At PSI Dressage & Jumping with the Stars, Werribee, Australia 18-20
march DS Burlington Bertie (also known as Noël) by the Swedish stallion Briar awarded third place in the 5-year old Australian Young Horse Championships.
"The "purple" liver chestnut (just like his dad) cuts a fine figure now
that he is working in balance and showing the looseness that his
bloodlines promise. His owner Moira Kelly from NSW and all connections
were thrilled with their boy and congratulate Tor for the progress he
has made in 4 short months since taking on the horse in October 2009.
After his ride Tor said that he enjoys riding this horse and has a good
relationship with the horse!" He is sure that DS Burlington Bertie will
go further. The scores were 7.5 for the trot, 7.0 for the walk, 8.5 for
the canter, 8.0 for submissiveness and 7.5 for general impression. Ton
De Ridder said after his ride, "The rider did very well, a big applause
please! The horse has a nice expressive trot, I can see the left and
right front leg come up - like Chacomo (his wife Alexandra's Sydney
Olympic horse). He was not quite as nice as the first horse, but he is
a horse that does not react too much and so this will make him a good GP
horse. Ton awarded 8.5 as his riding mark, so a total of 16.20 just
behind Mayfield Be Brave."

"Tip Top 962, a top Grand Prix horse on both sides of the Atlantic, is “doing very well” after emergency surgery that rider Leslie Morse said Saturday was “the quickest onset of acute colic I have ever seen.”
“He was standing in his stall at the horse show eating hay and within seconds threw himself down, rolling,” Leslie told dressage-news.com. “Thank God we were right there watching.”
Fellow competitors and friends helped to get Tip Top on the trailer at the Dressage Affaire CDI3* where he was scheduled to compete in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle.
The 16-year-old Swedish Warmblood stallion was driven to a veterinary clinic only two miles (3.2km) away and operated on by Dr. Rodrigo Vazquez.
Leslie said Dr. Vazquez found a “strangulated pedunculated lipome wrapped around 20 feet (6m) of distal jejunum and part of the Ileum.” This is a lump of fat he has had for years.
“We are by his side so that he will know how much he is loved,” she said. “We are counting the hours for the next five days and praying, but I know in my heart Tip Top is strong and fit and I am certain he can come through this.”
Tip Top has been competed successfully in Europe and the United States for three years, including the World Cup Final in Las Vegas in 2007. The pair won the Grand Prix Special at the Exquis World Dressage Masters CDI5* in Hickstead, England, last July and the Grand Prix Special at the WDM event in Palm Beach last month.
Leslie, 45, of Beverly Hills, California, has campaigned Tip Top to qualify for the selection trials for the USA’s team for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky in September."
